China's State Administration for Market Regulation issued its first six national standards for humanoid robots on November 2, 2026. The standards are scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2027, and cover general requirements, environmental perception, decision-making and planning, motion control, and task execution.
By addressing several core functions, the standards provide a common framework for assessing humanoid robots across more than one aspect of their operation. Their practical effect on product development and evaluation will depend on the detailed requirements set out in the standards.

Hong Kong-listed humanoid robot stocks rose following the announcement, with shares of Horizon Robotics and Dobot gaining more than 4%. The immediate market response indicates investor attention to the announcement, although it does not establish how the standards will affect individual companies over time.
As the implementation date approaches, manufacturers and other industry participants may focus on the detailed provisions and how they apply to product design and assessment. The longer-term impact will depend on those requirements and how they are put into practice.
